Hello there! My name is Foster, and I am a licensed teacher in Illinois with experience teaching social studies at a high school level in the Chicagoland area. I received my Bachelor's in Public Relations and Advertising from DePaul University, and then later received a Master of Secondary Education in History from the university. I am very passionate about history, writing, and helping young minds become comfortable and successful with social studies and writing based subjects.
I have various approaches on how to best support students, whether it be 1:1 discussions and mentoring, student-centered learning and growing, or practical skills building in any area of growth. I have prepared students to take the Constitution Test, take the APUSH Exam, and assisting in historical analysis and writing. My expertise is helping students succeed in understanding historical and other social studies topics with simple approaches, in addition to assisting in research and writing skills. I am a supporter of visual learning and breaking down topics to build a strong foundation of comprehension. I firmly believe that every student is unique in their own way and I modify my approach and methodologies to best fit the needs of each student. My ultimate goal is to have students feel comfortable in their areas of growth, and help them become successful.
