My name is Ralph, a recent graduate of Yale University with a Bachelor's degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. Throughout my four years at Yale, I studied just about everything there is to study in biology: from introductory Biology to Microbiology (the study of bacteria and viruses), Cell Biology, Genetics, Neurobiology, Immunobiology, and Reproductive Biology. My coursework in the major speaks for itself; however, I thoroughly enjoyed other subjects/endeavors, especially Biochemistry and Psychology. Psychology, in particular, I pursued in more detail - I studied introductory-level Psychology but also the psychology of linguistics and sleep, as well as Clinical Psychology, where I delved deeper into various clinical disorders and diagnoses.
For one summer, I studied abroad at Cambridge University, focusing on Materials Science and Forensic Psychology. I loved Forensic Psychology so much that when I joined Yale's tutoring programs - Splash/Sprout - I taught Forensic Psychology to elementary and high school students (~25-30 student-sized classes) for 4 semesters, informing students about decision-making as it pertains to the law and how biases skew our understanding of situations/crimes. I continued teaching Forensic Psychology during the summer for our tutoring program, Rainstorm, where my class was among the most-liked and most-voted-on by students. Additionally, I taught Microbiology for a semester to give students a change of pace from the standard eukaryotic biology often taught in schools.
To supplement my learning, I conducted research at the Yale School of Medicine (for ~3 years) focusing on autism and pneumonia and familiarized myself with lab techniques and behavioral experiments commonly used in biological and psychological studies.
I aspire to apply to Medical School after this summer, and I am currently spending my post-grad life tutoring, this time in English, students looking to use the language in professional and casual settings.
