I am an award-winning sociology professor, published author, researcher, and academic mentor with more than twenty years of experience helping students develop as scholars, writers, and critical thinkers.

I earned my PhD in Sociology from Howard University. Over the last more than 20 years, I have taught at Loyola University Chicago, Kent State University, and George Mason University. Currently, I am visiting faculty at Purdue University Northwest. Throughout my career, I have worked with undergraduate students, master's students, doctoral students, first-generation college students, adult learners, and students from diverse educational backgrounds.

My approach is supportive, strategic, and highly individualized. Whether you are struggling to organize a research paper, preparing a graduate school application, developing a dissertation proposal, or trying to strengthen your academic writing, I help students move from being confused and overwhelmed to clear and confident.

Students often tell me that I make complex ideas accessible while challenging them to think more deeply and write more effectively. My goal is not simply to help students complete an assignment; it is to help them develop skills that will serve them throughout their academic and professional careers.

My areas of expertise include sociology, social problems, race, class, gender, and inequality, social justice, research methods, qualitative research, literature reviews, academic writing, thesis and dissertation development, graduate school applications, personal statements, and critical thinking and analysis.

Whether you need assistance with a single project or ongoing academic coaching, I look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
