I was also honored as a State Scholar, placing among the top 10% of high school graduates in my state.
My passion for tutoring comes from the positive impact my own teachers had on my educational journey. Their guidance inspired me to help students build confidence, develop strong academic foundations, and reach their full potential. For the past three years, I have worked as a one-on-one tutor at Kumon, an after-school math and reading program, where I have supported students ages 3–12. Working with students of different backgrounds, learning styles, and skill levels has helped me develop flexible teaching strategies tailored to each student's individual needs.
My teaching approach focuses on building understanding and confidence step by step. I introduce new concepts through clear explanations and guided examples, then work through practice problems alongside students while providing feedback and support. As students become more comfortable, I encourage them to solve problems independently so I can assess their understanding and address any areas that need reinforcement. I end each lesson with a space for students to ask any questions that weren't answered in the session or for anything to be clarified.
In addition to my work at Kumon, I volunteered as a summer tutor for a nonprofit organization serving refugee children with significant learning gaps. This experience strengthened my ability to provide patient, compassionate support and reinforced my commitment to creating positive learning opportunities for all students.
