Hello! I am an elementary teacher for Chicago Public Schools. I currently teach upper elementary grades, but I have experience with middle school as well. I completed my Masters degree at Saint Xavier University, gaining my MAT in Elementary Education, and have worked with children since graduating from Illinois State University in 2007. Hello! I am an elementary teacher for Chicago Public Schools. I currently teach upper elementary grades, but I have experience with middle school as well. I completed my Masters degree at Saint Xavier University, gaining my MAT in Elementary Education, and have worked with children since graduating from Illinois State University in 2007. I am finishing my middle school math endorsement. I have been tutoring since 2023 and teach multiple strategies for math, focus on reading comprehension and grammar, and conduct science experiments as well. I've worked with students from age 8-12 and love getting a chance to connect the material for them.
I love getting the chance to teach students new things as well as helping them with areas that they are having trouble with. If educational materials and curriculum are already being used at home, I am able to adapt to those methods to continue continuity of the material. I am easy to reach and respond to messages quickly. Teaching higher than elementary allowed me to get ready to teach middle school and high school math, which helps those students who are in elementary and are testing higher than grade level.

I earned my bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and have worked in the Juvenile Justice sector. I went to school and earned a Paralegal Studies certificate and learned how to draft legal documents as well to keep me well rounded. I stay well versed in the changing sections, focusing on the laws and what makes things legal. I was able to adapt these skills in education as well, aiding those who need it and have questions about it.

I help students learn how to construct sentences correctly so that they can write legible paragraphs as well as tricks to remember how to write amazing sentences. This comes in handy when have independent writing in older grades. Learning how to focus on forming correct sentences can help improve reading and writing, and hopefully, it can help increase that love of reading, writing, and learning.

I teach basic handwriting skills as well as cursive handwriting for students. I help focus on the formation of letters and continued practice so that students can write legibly and clearly. I have been tutoring students in this section for three years and teach cursive to my students as well.

Want to improve your spelling? I help students learn new vocabulary as well as tricks to remember how to spell the word without looking. This comes in handy when you have dyslexia and tend to mix the letters up. Learning how to focus on the letters can help improve reading, and hopefully, it can help increase that love of reading and learning.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I have taught students more robust vocabulary for the past 3 years, expanding from the standard vocabulary that is given at grade level. I help them understand the definitions as well as how to use it in sentences. This helps as the students get older and need more vocabulary for admission tests (ACT, SAT).
Volleyball

Volleyball

I played volleyball from 7th grade into college. I warm up often to keep my skills sharp. I plan to coach volleyball at my school for the 2026-2027 school year. I've played in the staff/student games for the past few years.
Writing

Writing

In the intermediate level, I focus on the correct structures of writing, including persuasive, narrative, and even creative writing. I find ways to make sure that students have fun with their writing while introducing figurative language, CER writing, and correct paragraph structure. Teaching this has even gotten my students to write a collective book of creative stories.
