I am currently studying education and child development at Roosevelt University in Chicago, building on mathematics and education coursework completed at Malcolm X College. My academic background has given me a strong understanding of child development, learning strategies, and mathematics instruction.
I have several years of experience tutoring and teaching students in grades 2–8 in one-on-one, small-group, and classroom settings. Since 2023, I have worked as a math tutor through Chicago Public Schools programs, including MSTAR Math and Tutor Corps, helping students develop practical math skills through engaging lessons and guided practice. In 2025, I taught math at Midtown Center for Boys, leading activities and lessons for students in grades 3–8.
In addition, I have provided private tutoring since 2024, creating individualized learning plans for students needing support in mathematics, including algebra and geometry. My volunteer experience at Midtown Center for Boys and Erie House has also allowed me to assist students with homework, academic enrichment, and ESL support.
My teaching approach focuses on adapting instruction to individual learning styles, connecting concepts to real-world situations, and building student confidence. As a bilingual English and Spanish speaker, I can effectively communicate with diverse learners and families. Through my tutoring, teaching, and volunteer experiences, I have developed strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills that help students succeed academically and gain confidence in their abilities.
