Hello, I’m Micah! I’m a rising senior at Brown University, concentrating in International and Public Affairs as well as Urban Studies. I specialize in teaching writing/English and history, as well as the SAT reading and writing sections (on which I received a 780 out of 800). For these topics, I find that drilling a specific problem area is helpful, as well as giving contextual knowledge that can aid in a comprehensive understanding of the topic. Especially when preparing for a test, understanding the structure of the problems is helpful, as standardized tests often have repeating patterns in the style of questions that are asked. My methods are adjusted based on what each student finds to be most effective and engaging in order to get the most out of the experience.
I have a year’s worth of experience remotely tutoring a 4th grade student 1-on-1 in English, and have experience assisting high schoolers in studying for the SAT/ACT reading/writing portions.
