Hello! My name is Kathleen, and I am a future high school history teacher currently completing my Professional Educator License (PEL) program in secondary education with a focus on history at Northeastern Illinois University. I also hold an MBA from the University of Illinois and have a strong background in communication, organization, and student support.
I have experience working with high school students in Chicago Public Schools through classroom observations, clinical experiences, substitute teaching, and one-on-one student support. I have worked with diverse learners in both whole-group and small-group settings, including English language learners and students who benefit from additional academic scaffolding and encouragement.
My tutoring approach is patient, supportive, and student-centered. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and when lessons connect to real life. I focus on building confidence while helping students strengthen critical thinking, reading comprehension, writing, organization, and study skills.
I specialize in subjects such as:
• U.S. History
• World History
• Civics/Government
• Social Studies
• Essay Writing
• Reading Comprehension
• Study Skills
I also have experience designing engaging lessons and activities that help students better understand complex topics through discussion, visuals, guided practice, and interactive learning strategies.
Whether a student needs help preparing for a test, organizing assignments, improving writing skills, understanding historical concepts, or building academic confidence, I strive to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where they can succeed.
I look forward to helping students grow academically and reach their goals!
