Hello! My name is Olive, and I am about to graduate with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dramaturgy/Theatre Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in English, specifically literary analysis and creative writing. I also have obtained ample education across different periods of history, as well as social sciences such as Turn of the Century Vienna, Ancient Greece, The Great War & World War II, European history, US history, sociology, psychology, and anthropology. I will be beginning my MFA in Creative Writing with an emphasis on poetry (let me help with Shakespeare and more!) and literary analysis in the fall at Emerson College in Boston. I have been selected to present my academic papers at various academic conferences, I have experience editing essays/creative writing, and I have worked as an intern in regards to editing/publishing. I have been teaching and tutoring for four years, as I have been a teaching assistant/peer tutor at my college for most of my college career. I mostly teach anything relating to English, literature, reading, writing, history, and social sciences. I have also provided private tutoring as well as after school teaching before, for the past two years. I have experience teaching any ages from Pre K-college.
I believe in fostering curiosity, joy, and finding approaches tailored to each student's needs in teaching and learning. I work with each and every student to find methods of learning that work best for them; I check in with my students throughout and at the end of each lesson to hear their thoughts on how they feel about how we worked through the materials for the day. I am happy to help with homework, learning reading/writing/essay editing skills, reading/discussing together, vocabulary/literary techniques, and bringing in my own materials to help students if they do not have specific assignments they need assistance with. I encourage my students and empathize with them, as I am a student, too, and I uplift them when they are doing well.
