Hello! My name is Jacob, I am a Physics and Math teacher/tutor certified to teach in Texas and Illinois. I got my start teaching SAT and ACT prep while I attended Illinois Tech. I got my Physics BS and moved to Houston TX, where I taught AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2*, and Honors/AP Precalculus at one of the best high schools in the city. I have since relocated back to Chicago where I continue to teach

In my experience, just about any student has the potential to earn a 3 or higher on any of the AP exams I taught, it comes down to having 1) A teacher that understands the test and 2) Whether the student is willing to put in the work. All of my course materials are based directly on the Course & Exam Description released by College Board to help students understand what they will be asked to do in May. My #1 goal when teaching or tutoring these classes is to reduce the anxiety of my students, so they can be focused on the joy of learning about physics and math!
I have also spent a lot more time recently with the ACT. There are a few easy tricks that can help students can use to increase their ACT/SAT score and after that is just practice! practice! practice! I am also 100% comfortable with regular/honors physics, introductory college physics courses, and any high school math course outside of statistics.
GOALS: In general my goal with AP courses is to do everything possible to help students achieve a 4 or 5 on their exam. For SAT I like to see a 100 point increase, equivalent to about 3-4 points on the ACT. The most important goal is YOUR goal though, and that is the first thing we discuss no matter what we are learning
Thanks for reading and I look forward to meeting you!
*This is my favorite course to teach!!
