I am a dedicated elementary educator with over seven years of experience teaching in Chicago Public Schools across grades 1–6. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago and hold an Illinois Professional Educator License, along with endorsements in General Science and Language Arts. My teaching background includes first and second grade classrooms as well as upper elementary science, giving me a strong understanding of how to support learners at different developmental levels. I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year for my network, and I’ve taken on leadership roles such as team leader, mentor, and instructional leader.
My approach to tutoring is rooted in explicit instruction, differentiation, and culturally responsive teaching. I prioritize building strong relationships with students and creating a supportive, engaging environment where they feel confident taking academic risks. I am trained in trauma-responsive practices and social-emotional learning, and I use a variety of tools and strategies to meet each student’s unique needs. Whether working on foundational reading skills, strengthening math understanding, or supporting science learning, I focus on making lessons clear, fun, interactive, and tailored to help students grow both academically and confidently.
