Hi! I’m Palmer, a physics and math tutor with over three years of experience tutoring primarily high school and college students. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Chicago, with an additional focus on Science Communication. I’ve spent years learning how to best communicate science and math to others, so I know that learning can be a challenging process—but it can be extremely rewarding as well. My tutoring work has shown me that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to learning, but I believe that with the right resources and care, anyone is capable of learning anything. I incorporate this perspective into my tutoring by always using a collaborative, student-centered tutoring approach where I adapt lessons to a student’s individual needs. My typical style includes breaking down concepts in ways that follow a student’s curiosity and giving time for guided or independent practice.
In college, I spent two years as an introductory physics tutor for undergraduate students. I hosted twice weekly drop-in tutoring sessions where I provided supplemental teaching, homework help, and exam preparation assistance to students from a variety of academic backgrounds. I have also worked for over a year as an online tutor, providing consistent one-on-one academic support to students in high school or college. I have tutored over 30 students, working with some over the course of an entire school year. I have experience tutoring a range of courses such as AP or IB Physics, College Physics, Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus (including AP courses), and SAT Math.
I always strive to help students and parents meet whatever goals they set, whether that’s enhancing understanding, raising a grade, preparing for an exam, or anything else. Feel free to contact me to schedule a lesson, or if you have any questions!
