Hi, I'm Honor! I am a current Master's degree candidate pursuing licensure in English Language Arts and Special Ed, and I have eight years of tutoring and mentoring experience, with specialities in test prep (SAT, AP) and English composition from sixth grade to college-level. I believe that any content can be made accessible if you use the right teaching strategies.
While students usually come to me to work on English, they often ask me to tutor them in additional subject areas once we start working together. When I asked one of my students why she wanted me to tutor her in Algebra instead of going with a specialist math tutor, she explained, "I just like the way you explain things."
I began honing my teaching skills in college. As an undergraduate student at Hamilton College (grad. 2021), I worked as a writing tutor, a public speaking coach, and a TA. I also worked as an English language tutor for adults at our local community center. After graduation, I followed my passion for teaching to Manhattan, where I worked as an assistant English Language Arts teacher for grades 10 and 12. In addition to classroom teaching, I founded a Writing Center and ran a Tea Club after school and during lunch periods.
Teaching in Manhattan solidified my commitment to a career in education, and it taught me that every student can grow through trusting partnerships and the right supports. That is why I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Secondary Education with certifications in English Language Arts and Special Education at DePaul University in Chicago. I will be student teaching at Walter Payton College Prep in Fall 2026.
