I’m Alex! I graduated with my bachelors in statistics with a minor in math from Texas A&M, where I co-authored a senior capstone research paper and was chosen to be a teaching assistant for core statistics classes as an undergraduate. Afterwards I attended the LSU Health Science Center School of Public Health where I graduated with my masters in biostatistics, and authored a masters thesis which was then selected for publication. I now work as a biostatistician participating in safety/efficacy analysis for clinical trials.
Throughout my schooling, I came to realize that in many cases the basics of subjects such as math and statistics are not taught best by professors who have been studying the field for decades. They are all of course very smart and capable teachers, but the basics are trivial to them, which sometimes hinders their ability to effectively communicate these topics to students who may be seeing them for the first time. I strive to teach complex topics in a digestible way, even for someone who is completely new to the subject. Applying this in my time as a teaching assistant was very gratifying for me, and I’m able to say that I truly enjoyed seeing students work their way through the material and gain an understanding from me teaching them.
I’d love to do the same for you! My specialty is statistics, but I’m happy to help all levels of mathematics from algebra 1 to multi variable calculus. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
