I began tutoring nearly nine years ago through Catholic Charities, where I supported K–12 refugee students with schoolwork and English language acquisition, and later helped some transition into community college. This experience taught me how to meet students where they are and build skills step by step. I went on to work as a Mathnasium instructor, teaching elementary through high school math in a structured setting, and as a tutor on platforms like Varsity Tutors, where I supported students in subjects including physics, English, and history. At Brown University, I have also worked as a peer tutor for introductory college-level courses, including physics, and I am comfortable working with students from kindergarten through early college.

I am a Brown University student studying Geophysics and Climate Physics, a highly quantitative and interdisciplinary field. I have a wide academic background and have earned 5s on 14 AP exams across STEM and the humanities, which allows me to support students in a broad range of subjects, from elementary math to calculus, as well as writing, history, and science. I enjoy helping students with writing and communication, including essays, research papers, term papers, proofreading, and college applications.

My specialty is standardized test preparation. For over six years, I have tutored students in the SAT, ACT, PSAT, and AP exams. As a top scorer myself, I bring effective, proven study strategies to help students improve. My teaching approach is centered on practice and constructive feedback—I have students complete practice problems independently, and we use lesson time to review mistakes and build deeper understanding. This approach works for students at all levels, whether they are building foundational skills or aiming for top scores.

I look forward to working with you or your child!

AP Physics

I reached out to Allison after reading her profile and immediately knew she was the right fit for my son. They are beginning to review for the AP physics exam and review of concepts that need additional understanding of the concepts. She is interactive and engaging with my son encouraging his confidence with his decision making. She prepares before each lesson and provides additional practice homework. The goal is to provide confidence in the knowledge learned to apply with confidence and accuracy in a timely fashion for the exam and additional testing the remainder of the year. Highly recommend Allison.

Excellent Tutor

We were so very happy with the lesson that we had with Allison. She was extremely knowledgeable about the ACT/SAT, and shared the best strategies to be successful with the tests. My son told me that he found his first lesson very helpful-actually much better than he expected. Allison is very organized and it is obvious that she has had much experience. I feel fortunate that we found her.
