I’m Ms. Price, a dedicated middle school Math Tutor with Chicago Public Schools through Tutor Corps, working with 6th–8th grade students across Tier 1–3 levels. I studied Early Childhood Education at Tennessee State University for three years and am currently continuing my education at National Louis University, pursuing a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with an ESL endorsement. I also serve as a paraprofessional and have worked with students with IEPs from birth through age 14. I have been tutoring and assistant teaching for nearly four years while completing my college studies, which has given me extensive hands-on experience supporting diverse learners.
In my current role, I provide small-group and individualized math support, differentiating instruction in real time to meet students exactly where they are. Whether I’m reteaching foundational skills, breaking down multi-step problems, or preparing students for assessments, I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind the math — not just how to get the answer. I prioritize building confidence, independence, and strong problem-solving skills so students feel successful beyond our sessions.
I also support multilingual learners. While I am not a bilingual or native Spanish speaker, I intentionally translate key instructions, clarify vocabulary, and explicitly teach math language to ensure students are not left behind. My school recently recognized me as a “Superstar” Tutor Corps tutor for building positive relationships and being “caught teaching” at the whiteboard. Students actively seek out my support, and I am committed to creating a structured, supportive environment where every learner can grow.
