I'm a writer and tutor with nearly a decade of experience helping students at every level improve their reading and writing skills and discover where language can take them. I hold a B.A. in Literary Studies with a concentration in Non-Fiction Writing and a minor in Race & Ethnicity from The New School's Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, where I was also faculty-nominated to serve as an Academic Fellow for a required 3000-level course — co-building the syllabus, leading seminar discussions, and working one-on-one with students on longform writing, critical feedback, and revision.

My tutoring experience spans K–12, university-level, and adult learners, including volunteer work, in-person and remotely across Chicago, New York City, and beyond. One of my specialties is admissions essays at every level, with acceptances at WashU Law, NYU, UChicago, and Northwestern, among others — I particularly love supporting test-optional applicants in submitting essays that make their applications competitive.

My approach is student-centered and culturally responsive. As a digital native, I use culture, trends, and the touchstones students already care about to make unfamiliar texts click. I focus on developing independent skills rather than just fixing a single paper. I have experience supporting students with ADHD, adult learners returning to school, and ESL writers, adapting my methods to fit how each person actually learns best. Reading and writing are muscles, and I'm passionate about helping every student build them.

African American Studies

African American Studies

I hold a B.A. in Literary Studies with a minor in Race & Ethnicity from The New School's Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, where my coursework centered on African American literature, culture, and critical theory, including a semester abroad at King's College London with a course at the Black Cultural Archives. As a Teaching Artist at DePaul University, I co-facilitated a course called The Black Arts Movement as Critical Media Literacy: From Be Bop to Hip Hop — leading 17 Chicago Public Schools high school students in exploring the Black Arts Movement as a framework for critical thinking and creative expression. My approach draws on culture, trends, and the texts students already care about to make African American history and literature engaging and accessible. I bring both academic grounding and real classroom experience to this subject.
Creative Writing

Creative Writing

I've spent nearly a decade working with writers at every level, across genres. I was faculty-nominated as an Academic Fellow for a required 3000-level Literary Studies course at The New School, working one-on-one with students on long-form writing. As a Teaching Artist at DePaul University and the University of Chicago's Logan Center, I've led K–12 students in refining their creative writing skills, finding their voice, and developing craft techniques. My approach centers on helping writers who know what they want to say but can't quite get it on the page.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I hold a B.A. in Literary Studies with a concentration in Non-Fiction Writing from The New School's Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, where I developed a deep foundation in the essay form and the many shapes it can take. I've worked across academic, personal, and creative essays with students from K–12 through graduate and professional school, and I love showing students what essays can be. I was faculty-nominated as an Academic Fellow for Reading for Writers: The Long Read — a required 3000-level Literary Studies course at The New School — working one-on-one with students on longform essay writing. I bring targeted workshop principles and exercises to every session, meeting writers exactly where they are on the page.
