I am a former college professor of film, media, and English with over 15 years of university teaching experience. I received my Master’s and Doctorate in Critical Studies from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, and have taught a wide range of classes at USC, Chapman University, the University of Pittsburgh, and other schools.
I’ve taught more than 30 different courses on a diverse variety of cinema and media topics, from general and introductory classes (Introduction to Cinema, Film Genres, History of Film) to advanced classes (Film Theory, Words and Images, Narrative and Technology) to specialized topics (The James Bond Phenomenon, The Films of Alfred Hitchcock, Science Fiction and Fantasy). However, having also worked in a few English Departments, I’ve also taught writing-specific courses like Freshman Writing and Seminar in Composition, along with essay-writing workshops in some of my writing-intensive freshmen classes.
I have experience working with film, television, literature, videogames and interactive media, comics, and other narrative artforms, as well as writing, storytelling, communications, critical thinking, and history. Working one-on-one with students was always the most satisfying part of my job, so I’m excited to meet you and see what I can do to help!
