Hi, I am Connor. I tutor economics, chemistry, environmental science, and foundational math, and my thing is making hard material feel simple and doable.

I earned my undergrad degree from Cornell University and later completed an MBA/MS at the University of Michigan, where I also taught Economics 101 as a Graduate Student Instructor. I have spent years teaching in real, high-accountability settings, and I genuinely enjoy working with students who want clarity, confidence, and momentum.

My teaching background is broad and very hands-on. In Peace Corps in Uganda, I taught English, math, and science to 5th graders. In City Year Los Angeles (AmeriCorps), I tutored 9th grade students in English, math, and science in a fast-paced school environment where relationships, consistency, and showing up every day mattered. I have also coached one-on-one as an instructor, so I am comfortable meeting students where they are and adjusting quickly.

My tutoring style is structured, calm, and upbeat. We will get clear on the goal, identify what is actually tripping you up, and build a simple plan to fix it. I explain concepts in plain language, then we practice until it clicks; I actually love explaining things three different ways! You will leave each session with a small set of next steps you can actually do between meetings.

If you are feeling behind, overwhelmed, or just tired of spinning your wheels, I can help. Send me the class, the topic you are on right now, and your next deadline, and I will recommend the best plan for a first session. I enjoy this work, and I would love to help you feel confident again!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Pre-Algebra is where math becomes a language, and I teach students how to read it. I’ve taught math full-time as a Peace Corps Volunteer (5th grade) and tutored upper-elementary students at Cornell through the REACH program, so I’m strong at making concepts understandable and repeatable. We focus on the core building blocks: variables, simplifying expressions, fractions and decimals, negative numbers, ratios, and solving equations. I keep sessions upbeat and organized so students build momentum fast and stop feeling stuck.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I help students succeed in Algebra 2 by making the “why” behind each method feel obvious and repeatable. My background includes teaching math as a Peace Corps Volunteer (5th grade) and tutoring elementary students in grades 4–5 through Cornell University’s REACH program, which trained me to diagnose gaps quickly and explain concepts in clean steps. In Algebra 2, I support topics like functions and graphs, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, radicals, exponentials and logarithms, and solving equations and systems. Sessions are structured and calm, with plenty of practice and quick checkpoints so students build confidence and accuracy.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I tutor high school Chemistry and AP Chemistry, and I have supported students across multiple high schools with a focus on clear fundamentals and strong test performance. I earned a 5 on AP Chemistry and a 780 on the Chemistry Subject Test, and I completed General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry Lab at Cornell University. I also have an MS in Sustainability from the University of Michigan, which reinforces my ability to connect chemistry to real systems like energy, materials, and environmental processes. In addition to tutoring, I have extensive teaching experience through Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and the University of Michigan, and I teach with structure, patience, and high expectations.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I taught 5th grade math in Uganda as a Peace Corps Volunteer and supported students with a wide range of starting points. I also tutored 4th–5th grade students as a Cornell University REACH Tutor, helping them build confidence and stronger fundamentals. I support K–6 learners with number sense, place value, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, measurement, and word problems using clear steps and guided practice. My approach is patient and encouraging, while still structured enough to create real progress.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

I teach elementary science in a way that is clear, hands-on, and confidence-building. I bring high-trust classroom experience from both Peace Corps and AmeriCorps, working with students across a wide range of learning styles and needs. Academically, I completed rigorous STEM coursework at Cornell University, including biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics, which helps me explain concepts accurately and simply. I support K–6 topics like life science, ecosystems, matter and energy, forces and motion, Earth systems, and scientific thinking through questions, demonstrations, and real-world examples.
Geometry

Geometry

I teach Geometry in a way that is clear, visual, and confidence-building. I bring high-trust classroom experience from both Peace Corps and AmeriCorps, working with students across a wide range of learning styles and needs. My STEM background helps me explain the logic behind geometry step-by-step, so students understand why a rule works instead of memorizing it. I support students with core topics like angle relationships, triangles, congruence and similarity, circles, coordinate geometry, area and volume, and introductory proofs. Took honors geometry Freshman year of high school.
Microeconomics

Microeconomics

I tutor microeconomics by translating the math and graphs into simple decision rules students can apply under exam pressure. I studied economics at Cornell and taught Economics 101 as a Graduate Student Instructor at the University of Michigan, so I know what professors expect and how to earn points on problem sets. I support topics including supply and demand, elasticity, utility and cost curves, perfect competition, monopoly, game theory basics, and market failures. My teaching background in AmeriCorps and Peace Corps makes me strong at meeting students where they are and building confidence fast.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I help students succeed in Pre-Algebra by turning confusion into a plan. I have taught in multiple settings, including Peace Corps and AmeriCorps, and I bring a patient, organized approach that works especially well for students who feel behind or discouraged. We focus on the high-impact building blocks: operations with fractions and negatives, simplifying expressions, ratios and percent, and solving equations and word problems. Families can expect clear progress, steady accountability, and growing confidence session by session.
Statistics

Statistics

Statistics can feel abstract until the pieces connect, and I focus on making that connection clear. I studied econometrics and statistics at Cornell and taught economics at the University of Michigan as a Graduate Student Instructor, which means I am comfortable explaining both the math and the meaning. I help students with probability, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression, and reading outputs and word problems. You can expect a calm, step-by-step approach that builds accuracy and confidence quickly.
