Hi, everyone! My name is Jennifer, and I’m a California university graduate who also studied at Waseda University in Tokyo, one of Japan’s most prestigious universities. I specialize in teaching absolute beginner Japanese, helping students start confidently from scratch. I have taught learners of all ages, from high school to university level, in both one-on-one and small group settings. My lessons focus on building a strong foundation in speaking, reading, writing, and pronunciation, while introducing essential vocabulary and cultural notes to make learning Japanese fun and engaging.
I use Adventures in Japanese 1 as a guide and adapt each lesson to meet the student’s pace. We cover hiragana, katakana, basic words, and everyday phrases step by step, ensuring that learning is structured, approachable, and achievable. My teaching style is interactive and repetitive, designed to build confidence and make the very first steps in Japanese feel manageable and enjoyable. For students serious about steady progress, I recommend booking 10 consecutive lessons at regular times, which allows for consistent learning and real results. After your first session, we can discuss a schedule that fits your goals and ensures steady improvement.
Lessons are one hour long at $50 per session, with the option to schedule lessons in advance. I require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for cancellations to maintain consistency and focus for all students.
