My name is Isaac. I am a theatrical designer, educator, and writer in Chicago. I recently finished my MFA in sound design at Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama and received my undergraduate degree in political science from Southwestern University, where I had the opportunity to study abroad in Xi'an, China with the Critical Language Scholarship Program.
I have been an educator for eleven years, working with students ranging from kindergarteners to undergraduates. During my time as a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon, I mentored undergraduates who had been assigned their first audio engineering or sound design jobs. I also served as a Precollege Instructor for CMU Drama's Precollege program, teaching older high school students sound design, composition, creative coding, and music theory. Prior to attending Carnegie Mellon, I worked in public education for eight years.
I believe individual tutoring should be just that: custom-tailored to each individual. In building curricula, I aim to build upon my students' strengths and shore up areas of difficulty. I also draw upon as many sources and materials as possible for my lessons to ensure my students' education remains in line with current academic and/or industry standards. I believe an education should be relevant to today's society and the needs of each student.
I look forward to speaking with you regarding your educational needs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
