ACT MATH/SCIENCE
Hello!
My name is Preethi, and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins. I tutored ACT math/science for 8 years and university biology courses for 4 years. I enjoy helping high school students gain the skills and confidence for test day.
I tutored one-on-one in ACT math and science through Kaplan for 8 years. My style is to clarify fundamental concepts, focusing on test-taking strategies (time management, easy problem-solving approaches, calculator tips, and process of elimination). My strategy involves reviewing practice problems, timed sections as homework, and providing written feedback after lessons. With my help, students have improved their scores by 7-8 points and approach test day with confidence.

MEDICAL SCHOOL APPLICATIONS

Currently, I am a 4th-year med student at UChicago. I was also accepted to the University of Michigan, NYU, Boston University, Northwestern, and Johns Hopkins. As a med student interviewer, I have reviewed applications and interviewed hundreds of applicants. Knowing what med schools look for, I hope to help you with any of the following: essay editing, MCAT study planning, and interview prep.
My approach is a personalized one that starts with understanding your goals for the cycle. I scored a 523 on the MCAT and have created personalized MCAT study plans based on subject strengths and goal scores. We will review practice tests together using my "Why I Missed Spreadsheet" to help focus your content review. For essays, I ask you to share your writing, and I will edit them into impactful responses returned to you within 24-48 hours. My interview-prep style involves 1-hr mock sessions where I rapid-fire common/difficult interview questions. Students have told me that their real interviews felt much easier. I emphasize a strategy that will help you set the tone and convey who you are effectively.

I hope you consider me in your ACT prep or med school journey. I care about equitable education. We can negotiate rates.

Best,
Preethi

MCAT

MCAT

I am a medical student who took the MCAT (scored a 132/127/132/132 (523). I also have 4 years of experience teaching various university level science courses (intro biology, neuroscience, psychology, genetics, physiology, and biochem). My approach consists of making your study time work for you. Together we can personalize a study schedule that and set goals for practice questions, timed exams, and content review. Additionally, I also like to focusing on test-taking strategies (time management, easy problem-solving approaches, and process of elimination) Of course, we can review practice exams together or difficult concepts to hone in on your proficiency. I've created a template spreadsheet for you to fill out during your study sessions called "Why I missed" which helps focus your content review. Students have told me this is helpful to review before the exam. I have completed all of the content by the AAMC practice tests, Q banks, and Uworld so I am familiar with how overwhelming it all is, but I am excited to help you achieve your MCAT goals and get into medical school!
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

For the past four years, I was in an organization that helped URiM (underrepresented in medicine) craft their personal statements. I worked one on one with undergraduate students to brainstorm ideas for their PS, focusing on formative experiences and leveraging accomplishments (volunteer, research, and academic) to craft a strong, focused, and unique statement geared to the health professions. All of they students I mentored were accepted into a health profession school. My style is focused on honing in on the experiences that shaped the student, incorporating the highlights of their resume throughout the narrative. After the structure is laid down, the student writes freely. We will review the writing together, focusing on how to deliver their experiences concisely while maintaining their personal voice. Lastly, I can make final edits focusing on grammar and flow. Typically, this process takes 3-4 1 hour sessions!
