Hello! My name is Sabrina and I recently graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Integrated Health Studies and have a strong foundation in STEM coursework, including biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and calculus, as part of my preparation for dental school. I am currently in my gap year before starting dental school, which gives me the opportunity to share what I’ve learned and support students who are navigating the same subjects that I studied in depth. Having earned strong grades and a top score of 30 in Biology on the Dental Admission Test, I know what it takes to succeed in rigorous classes and how to break down complex concepts into approachable steps.
My tutoring experience is both personal and professional. For many years, I worked one-on-one with my younger brother, who is on the autism spectrum, helping him build confidence in schoolwork and developing strategies that supported his learning style. That experience taught me patience, adaptability, and the importance of meeting each student where they are. In college, I also worked as a Writing Center tutor, where I helped students of all backgrounds improve their essays, research papers, and personal statements. Beyond writing, I have provided peer tutoring in STEM subjects such as chemistry, physics, and calculus, both individually and in small groups.
Because I recently completed these courses myself, I understand the challenges students face and the study strategies that actually work. My approach is flexible and encouraging: I adapt explanations to match each student’s unique needs, whether that means using visual aids, step-by-step problem solving, or focusing on big-picture concepts. I enjoy helping students not only master content but also build confidence, so they feel capable and motivated. Whether it’s high school biology, college-level chemistry, physics, or writing support, I strive to create a positive learning environment where students can succeed.
