Hello! My name is Emma and I'd love to be your English tutor. I have an Associate's Degree in American Sign Language and a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, so you know I love languages and learning languages. After university, I became certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
I initially began my career by teaching online, where I honed my skills and learned how to adapt to my students' individual needs. Then, I taught for almost two years in Ecuador at a high school, then at a university. In Ecuador, I learned how to teach in a group setting, as well as tutor one-on-one. I improved my curriculum planning skills and learned how to adapt when my first teaching approach was unsuccessful.
Since coming back to the United States, I've been teaching adults online. I have experience with younger students, from my time teaching online and in Ecuador. Because of my experience, I can work with a curriculum and a textbook, or I can work with online resources and personal language goals.
I worked with university students to market themselves to a worldwide audience as English teachers. I also helped with a resume-writing workshop. As such, I have honed my Business English skills as well.
I like to get to know my students as individuals to tailor my lessons to their needs.
