About Ian

Bio

I am a current PhD student at Northwestern University with a focus in organic chemistry, specifically electroorganic chemistry and materials science. I completed my undergraduate degrees at University of Illinois Chicago in chemistry and physics where I tutored students in organic chemistry I & II through the university for 3+ years and have over 1 semester of a training course and years of experience in how to teach and improve the knowledge and confidence of students.

I have lots of experience in teaching students of all backgrounds, skill-sets and learning styles and care more for watching people progress than anything else. I have only chosen to tutor in subjects I feel I can comfortably help the student succeed in however since courses often are outside of the usual check-box options seen on websites I am always willing to communicate and make the decision if I can be the best tutor for you. I have tutored students of all ages from 14-30+ and am willing to help everyone learn more about the subjects I love. I am comfortable teaching any level of organic chemistry, electrochemistry, general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical and instrumental chemistry, thermodynamics, physics: mechanics and electromagnetism, calculus, differential equations, applied linear algebra and any implementation in standardized test forms (MCAT, ACT, SAT, etc). By any level I will clarify for all chemistry this is highschool - graduate school and physics highschool to undergraduate school.

I have won awards through my undergraduate institution such as the ACS award in undergraduate organic chemistry, an award named for a late professor at UIC in organic chemistry, deans list, etc. I also have 2 published research papers and 2 more in review currently.

MCAT

I have numerous experience in chemistry and physics aspects of the MCAT including the algebraic approach to physics mechanics and electromagnetism along with a deep understanding of circuits from both my physics undergraduate degree along with my PhD in electroorganic chemistry in focusing on developing circuits fit for specific waveform generation of electrochemical synthesis. I also have a deep understanding of chemistry principles such as general chemistry, physical chemistry and organic chemistry.
