Hello! I’m Zachary, and for the past seven years I’ve designed and taught courses in philosophy at the University of Illinois Chicago. As both an independent instructor and teaching assistant, I’ve led classes ranging from introductory logic to advanced phenomenology and existentialism. Some of the courses I’ve developed include “Death,” “Continental Philosophy,” “Environmental Ethics,” and “Theory of Knowledge.” This breadth of experience has equipped me to guide learners at every level, whether they’re just beginning their philosophical journey or diving into complex theoretical debates.
My teaching approach is rooted in active engagement and critical thinking. I break down sophisticated arguments into clear, manageable steps, then challenge students to reconstruct and critique those ideas on their own. In seminar discussions, I encourage open dialogue around existential questions; in logic workshops, I guide learners through formal proofs until the patterns click. My goal is to create an environment where students feel both supported and stretched—so they build confidence in their analytical skills while mastering the material.
Outside the classroom, I’ve served as a departmental talk organizer, department librarian, academic copy editor, and student-athlete tutor. These roles have sharpened my ability to help students with research methods, writing clarity, and argument structure. Whether you need help drafting a term paper or preparing for an exam, I tailor each session to your individual goals and learning style. I’m committed to fast responses, flexible scheduling, and customizing lessons to fit your needs. Please feel free to reach out to schedule your first session. I look forward to helping you think more deeply and learn more effectively!
