Stop struggling with Physics and Engineering—learn from a pro who actually builds what he teaches.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by AP Physics 1 or struggling to bridge the gap between complex math and physical concepts? I am a licensed Chicago educator currently teaching AP Physics 1, with 16 years of teaching experience and 8+ years as a professional Electrical Engineer in the aerospace and telecom industries.

Why Choose a Professional Educator & Engineer? Most tutors know the material, but not everyone knows how to teach it. My approach uses "modeling physics" and design thinking to transform intimidating subjects into accessible, engaging lessons. I specialize in helping students navigate the specific "traps" of the College Board curriculum and building the confidence needed for high-stakes exams.

My Credentials & Expertise:

Licensed Educator: Certified in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering (Illinois & Colorado).

Engineering Background: B.S. in Electrical Engineering (UIUC); former Education Engineer for SparkFun Electronics.

M.A. in Secondary Science Education (UC Boulder).

Higher Ed Experience: Former Adjunct Professor at Colorado School of Mines (Digital Electronics).

Physics: AP Physics 1, 2, & C, Honors, and IB.

Engineering: Robotics, Microcontrollers (Arduino/ESP32), and PCB Design.

Math: Geometry, Algebra II, and Trig.

Whether you are a high schooler aiming for a 5 on the AP exam or a college student tackling Digital Electronics, I can provide multiple perspectives to help the "lightbulb" go off. I’ve taught everyone from 6-year-olds to college seniors—I know how to adapt to your specific learning style.

I regularly use CAD platforms like Onshape for my own projects. I have developed a wide variety of curriculum for teaching lessons like the Skateboard Design Assignment from Onshape - as well as design for 3D printing!

Let’s turn those "tough" concepts into your strongest skills. Reach out today to schedule a session!

ACT Math

ACT Math

I spent 8+ years in the industry as an electrical design engineer on RF systems, but I left engineering to become a teacher back in 2008. I've been working in public schools in Colorado and Illinois. Currently, I teach AP Physics in Chicago.
AutoCAD

AutoCAD

I am a former electrical engineer, and I have been working in education since 2008. As an engineer, I primarily used 2D AutoCAD for my own professional designs. During my time in the classroom, I have taught all levels of engineering and introduced multiple CAD platforms to students including: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, and OnShape. My students learn to use these tools for design for 3D printing, laser cutting, and general communication purposes. In addition, I have also taught students to use EaglePCB and EasyEDA Schematic Capture / PCB design tools as well.
Computer Programming

Computer Programming

I have been using CAD platforms for the past 16+ years. I typically use OnShape, but I have built many models in SolidWorks, Fusion, AutoCAD, SketchUp, as well as schematic capture programs like EaglePCB and easyEDA. I worked for SparkFun Electronics for 5 years as their education Engineer developing curriculum and training for schools.
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Brian specialized in RF sub-systems and mixed-signal design while in undergraduate education at the University of Illinois in Electrical Engineering. He worked at ADC Telecommunications in wireless communication systems, antenna design and verification, and fiber-optic transport systems. After that, he worked at Ball Aerospace as an antenna designer and at SparkFun Electronics as an Education Engineer. He has a strong background in Arduino and PCB Design.
Physics

Physics

I have taught physics for the past 16+ years at both the high school and college level. I currently teach AP Physics 1 at a high school in Chicago.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I am a former engineer that has been teaching physics for the past 16+ years. I teach mostly juniors in AP Physics, and I am proficient in most areas of mathematics from Algebra 1 to Calculus.
