As a strategic communications professional with over 25 years of experience transforming complex information into persuasive narratives, I bring a unique perspective to tutoring that combines academic rigor with real-world application. I hold a Master's in Arts, Entertainment & Media Management from Columbia College Chicago and a BA in Psychology with minors in Theatre and Broadcasting from the University of Tennessee. My educational foundation in psychology provides deep insight into learning styles and motivation, while my theatre background brings performance skills that enhance both acting, coaching, and public speaking instruction.

Throughout my career as a senior executive at firms like KPMG and FTI Consulting, I've mentored countless professionals in writing, presentation skills, and strategic communication. This includes coaching executives on high-stakes presentations, developing training materials for teams of 100+ employees, and creating frameworks that help individuals communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. My experience directing trial services involved coaching attorneys and expert witnesses in courtroom presentation skills, which translates directly to public speaking and performance coaching.

My approach to tutoring emphasizes building confidence alongside technical skills. Whether helping students master SAT reading and writing strategies, develop their acting techniques, or craft compelling essays, I focus on understanding each student's unique strengths and challenges. Having balanced diverse audiences across corporate, legal, and creative sectors as well as my own college-age and high school children, I adapt my teaching methods to meet individual learning needs while maintaining high standards for excellence and clear communication.

Theater

I spent my early years on stage in both plays and musicals, eventually acting professionally before transitioning into directing and arts education. As Artistic Director of the Knoxville Youth Theatre, I worked with up to 250 students a year, and also served as an Artist in Residence teaching Shakespeare, both in performance and verse analysis. I bring deep knowledge of theater history, major movements, and dramatic structure, along with practical experience in script development and directing. Whether you're new to the stage or looking to deepen your understanding of theater as an art form, I offer clear, experienced guidance tailored to your goals.
