I'm Anya! I recently graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and I am returning to the University of Chicago to complete my Master's in Financial Mathematics. I have always been passionate about teaching, and after coming across so many inspiring teachers who got me where I am today, I strive to pass on that love of learning and enthusiasm to the students I work with.
I have about 5 years of Tutoring experience with all ages. I started out tutoring when I was in high school, working with elementary school kids on reading and writing skills. After my first year in college, I worked as a Math Teacher and English Teaching Assistant with Prep for Prep, a rigorous preparatory program that works to get middle school students from underserved backgrounds into the nations top Independent schools. My second year in college I started working as a Teaching Assistant for Elementary Functions in Calculus, leading twice weekly discussion sections of about 10 students where we went over practice problems, prepped for and took quizzes and exams, and worked through homework. I also worked as a Veteran Scholars Tutor through the University, working with students who have been out of school from anywhere from 4 to 15 years. I've most recently tutored in Calculus, Statistics, and Introduction to Econometrics.
I take an involved and creative approach with every student I work with. Throughout my experiences I have learned to work with all different ages, backgrounds, and subjects. I am easy to reach and provide quick responses. I hope that I can not only help students excel in their subjects but also find some joy in learning new things!
