I’m a passionate math educator with 25 years of classroom experience, now offering personalized tutoring for young mathematicians. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa. Subsequent degrees and certifications include a Masters in Reading and a Middle School Math endorsement from Northeastern Illinois University, and a certificate in Instructional Coaching from the Northwestern University. In addition, in 2008 I successfully achieved National Board of Professional Teaching Standard Certification. In subsequent years, I renewed this certification. I also completed Jo Boaler’s “How to Teach” math online course and have completed Advanced Math Recovery Level 1 training.
Throughout my career, I’ve helped students of all abilities from 1st - 7th grade in public, private school, and one-on-one in-person and virtual settings not only understand math—but actually enjoy it!
I specialize in making math come alive through games, real-world applications, and student choice. Whether we’re turning fractions into pizza slices, exploring algebra through puzzles, or using data from their favorite sports team to learn statistics, I always tailor each session to fit the student’s interests and learning style.
My goal is to build confidence, spark curiosity, and help students see that math is not just something to learn—it’s something they can love.
