Hi, I’m Nika! I am an interdisciplinary artist with a background in painting and drawing. I am currently pursuing a BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

I have been tutoring students of all ages since since 2023 across a variety of 2D and 3D mediums. I specialize in teaching portraiture and figure drawing, working with students develop the ability to achieve likeness, proportionality and anatomical correctness.

Critiques are a large part of regular sessions––I believe that thoughtful critique from fellow artists is crucial to artistic development. Through this feedback you will better understand your artistic strengths / weaknesses, as well as how to work towards your artistic goals!

Additional art teaching experience:
Counselor, MassAudubon, Wild at Nature and Art Camp: I develop and implement age-appropriate nature-based lessons and art activities.
Intern, Green Star Movement: I lead student and volunteer group activities, and worked on the creation of bricolage mosaics with colleagues and community members.
Art Director / Instructor, Jewish Community Center Greater Boston, Camp Kaleidoscope: I planned and taught hands-on art classes for children ages 4 to 14, developing engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans.

Honors & Awards:
Finalist team at the MoMA for the Biodesign Challenge Summit, 2026
SAIC Department of Contemporary Practices Outstanding New Artist Award for Artbash, 2025
Gold Key in Portfolio category, Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, Alliance for Young Artist and Writers, 2024

Beyond my undergraduate classes at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I’ve taken related coursework at Boston University’s Visual Arts Summer Institute program, Rhode Island School of Design’s Advanced Program for High School Students, Newton Community Education (for figurative and portraiture classes), and Danforth Museum. I have a Gold Key in the portfolio category of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, in addition to a certificate of recognition from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at UMass Dartmouth and an honorable mention from the New Art Association Scholarship Awards. I am an Art Director/Instructor where I develop curriculum and teach a wide age range of students. I have teaching experience in both one-on-one and group-class settings.

Helpful guidance and feedback

I am interested in portraiture. We worked on drawing the face from different angles. We discussed and practiced perspective. I left with helpful ideas for practicing before our next meeting.
