Hi!
I am an Assistant Teaching Professor of chemistry at Roosevelt University Chicago where I currently teaching General Chemistry 1 and 2. I hold a Master's degree in chemistry from Johns Hopkins University, where I focused on organic and physical organic chemistry. During my degree, I worked as a teaching assistant for organic chemistry lecture and lab for over 3 years. Additionally, I have been tutoring for the past 5+ years, specifically in the areas of math and chemistry including organic chemistry 1&2, general chemistry 1&2, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Precalculus, and honors chemistry/math. When tutoring, I like to focus on problem solving, specifically in how to break down problems and apply what we know to any sort of challenge.
I have tutored mainly high school and college students, ages 14-21. I prefer to do one on one tutoring, ensuring that my student fully understands the concepts and how to solve things themselves, not based on someone else's work. I also have a background in coaching field hockey, which I did for over 4 years; so I am well versed in teaching many different things in a variety of ways. One of my strongest skills in tutoring is my ability to teach in different ways and encouraging students to learn and problem solve in the way that makes the most sense to them as long as it is mathematically and scientifically correct.
I can't wait to work with you!

Knowledgeable and engaging

Miss Sydney gave me opportunities to tackle the problems on my own then provided feedback on my progress. Additionally, she encouraged me to ask questions and presented different ways to solve math and chemistry problems. She is very patient and passionate about these subjects. What I love the most is her strong communication skills. I highly recommend Miss Sydney for students who are looking for help to boost their grades.

Knowledgeable and patient

Sydney worked on Ap Calc problems with my daughter. My daughter said it was very helpful. Sydney took the time to explain the reasoning. Sydney was very pleasant and easy to work with.
