Dear potential student, I have over 20 years teaching students middle school reading and math. I've tutored students from grades 1 to 9. I've been extremely successful aiding students to achieve A's and B's on their report cards. My approach is simple, I tell students how I struggled as a young person, but I've taken my own struggles and found strategies that are beneficial to helping children learn and achieve. I believe that if you can apply the skills being taught to real-life scenarios, students tend to do better because it's not a foreign concept taught in isolation. For instance, I use sales papers from the grocery store to teach taxes, I have had students balance a budget to help them understand slope. I bring a tool-belt of strategies to my students to help them learn and grow.
So who am I? I'm a veteran teacher/tutor. I am a firm believer that all children can learn. I am a giver, I believe in rewarding my scholars for effort and achievement. I'm patient and will not give up on you. I know that sometimes learning is a process, like with anything, it takes time. 100% of my students who struggle with math have made gains over the academic school year. As long as we develop a solid routine, you will show growth. Growth may not be jumping from an F to an A, I don't guarantee that, but growth can look like an F to a D or C with dedication on your part and mine.
