In college, I learned various teaching techniques that I have used that helped benefit the students I worked with. The reason these techniques worked is because they were focused on making the learning authentic for the students who I was working with and made them more engaged in the material I went over. Along with this focus on authentic learning, I have also learned, through my teaching, the power of going the extra mile for students, differentiating the instruction for students due to their needs, and always bringing compassion into the teaching environment. These important teaching attributes and knowledge are what I get into my tutoring approach, as I do everything I can to help the students learn and have a pleasant experience.
I have experience teaching in different classrooms through my college experience as well as student learning for three months at a high school. In my student teaching, I taught 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders in History, Civics, and Earth Science classrooms. In each of these classrooms, I worked with a variety of different learners and made sure to make my teaching as authentic as possible. Also, I made sure to work with students who needed the most help one-on-one to ensure they were caught up with work and projects. These experiences in student teaching and throughout my teaching experience have provided me with skills that can be best used to help students.
