I started tutoring informally in high school by helping friends with their homework. In college, I tutored a friend in my Electricity and Magnetism course and helped him pass. I also tutored my brother and helped him pass his freshman writing seminar.
I graduated from Northwestern in 2021 with a degree in Physics. Since then I have worked for a non-profit that provides high-intensity tutoring at Chicago Public Schools. This job is a mix of teaching and tutoring: we make lesson plans, manage a classroom, and have parent conferences, but we only work with 2-5 students each period. We also work at a new school every year. In my first year I taught 9th grade algebra at Wendell Phillips High School, while last year I taught 9th grade algebra and 10th grade geometry at Englewood STEM High School. I am now starting my third year. At both schools, my supervisors praised me for my effective and meticulous guided notes, my ability to identify and adapt to student needs, and my patience and persistence when working with confused or frustrated students.
