My approach to tutoring is personalized and student-centered. We will begin with a free consultation to determine your goals and how I can help you achieve them. I can support you in writing academic essays, college essays and applications, creative writing, class projects, creating a résumé or cover letter for job applications, and earning high grades. I can even show you the "right ways" to use AI and ChatGPT so that you continue to grow as a writer and thinker.
At school, I make my classroom a safe space for all learners, including English learners, neurodivergent students, and LGBTQIA+ students. I recognize that writing can be personal, so I want to be clear: I will always keep your writing confidential unless I am concerned for your safety, and I will always be nonjudgmental about your personal journey. All I care about is helping you to grow by working towards your goals.
About me: I grew up in Dover, NH and graduated from the University of Chicago in 2010 with a BA in English Language and Literature with honors. In college, I worked as a tutor for Upward Bound at UNH and as a teaching intern at Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School. In 2014, I earned my MA from the University of Michigan and started as an English teacher with Chicago Public Schools. I earned National Board Certification from NBPTS in 2019, and I hold a Professional Educator License in ELA with Master Teacher Designation from the Illinois State Board of Education.
