Hi, I’m Em! I hold a Master's in Clinical Counseling with a focus on research, two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Clinical/Community Psychology and in Political Science with a minor in LGBTQ+ Studies.

During my undergraduate education, I was able to greatly advance my close reading skills while working with a wide variety of texts. In expanding these reading skills, I became a stronger writer and communicator, with more nuanced and developed ideas. As a Master's graduate student, I relied on these foundational abilities while expanding my knowledge in human development, research methods, and ethics.

I have about 4 years of tutoring experience. I've been working with students in kindergarten through post-graduate coursework both in-person and online. Additionally, I’ve worked in a tutoring center at a local community college, helping students with remedial math in a one-on-one context, returning education students with algebra in small groups (2-3 students), and offering supplemental tutoring to a small pre-calculus class (about 5-6 students). I also have experience working and volunteering with early elementary and middle school students in a one-on-one setting.

I believe all students should have the opportunity to learn these foundational skills in a non-judgemental way, and at a pace that best suits their needs!
