Hi, my name is Stephen, and I'm an MBA student at UChicago's Booth School of Business, the number one business school in the world. Having completed my undergraduate degree in economics and finance at Washington University in St. Louis (a top 25 undergraduate institution) with the academic distinction of college honors (an academic award only provided to students with GPAs higher than 3.60), I am acutely aware of the challenges students face when navigating these academic disciplines, and I am passionate about helping other students succeed in economics and finance courses. My strong background in economics and finance has helped me continue to thrive in my MBA program. I have now completed my core graduate-level economics and finance courses with all As.
While I hope my path reflects my passion for sharing all that economics and finance have to offer, I understand the difficulties students face in grasping rigorous concepts within these disciplines. My experience as a TA for my finance and economics-focused coursework in undergrad and my teaching experience as a Kaplan ACT tutor for 2 years helped me refine my teaching methods. To help you succeed, first I’ll diagnose where your economic or finance related knowledge gaps are by reviewing grades on previous exams and homework assignments and seeing what concepts the questions missed are related to. Then I’ll teach / review the specific concepts with you from the ground up. Finally, I’ll provide practice problems for us to work through together and independently to test the your mastery and build up your ability to solve economics and finance problems independently.
Overall, whether you are looking for last-minute help studying for a final or seeking tutoring throughout your finance or economics course, I'm happy to teach concepts ranging from the basics of supply and demand up to Bertrand and Hotelling competition and equilibrium quantities, or the basics of finance like CAPM up to more advanced topics like the fundamental theory of asset pricing.
