Hi there! I’m Andrew. I have received three degrees in higher education (BA in Religion and Classics summa cum laude, M.Div., and MTS) and am currently pursuing my doctorate. My work revolves around my love of ancient history, religious studies, and languages. Teaching and sharing exciting ideas with others have always supplied the fuel for my academic journey. In college, I regularly found myself organizing study sessions or sitting down with classmates to go over material one-on-one. My heart leapt when I saw the spark of fresh insight in my peers’ eyes! I hope to bring that same spark to my students on this platform as well.

I spent 3 years as a college writing tutor, which provided me with regular formal trainings and experience helping projects ranging from the natural sciences to the humanities. This work also involved helping students who spoke English as a second language or who had writing projects for things beyond courses, like for medical school applications. Many sessions were one-and-done, with students looking for some quick help on a term paper. This format allowed me to develop methods for getting concrete learning results fast, even in a single, half-hour session.

Additionally, I have 2 years of experience as a graduate instructor in a humanities context. I have taught small groups (8–12 students each) in weekly classes designed to review and clarify course material. These students presented a range of needs: some felt comfortable with the material and were looking to press further into their studies while others wanted help keeping up. In each case, I took time to hear where my students were at and what they cared about so that I could show them achievable next steps on their unique learning journeys.

In sum, my tutoring approach is individual-focused, structured, and—most of all—enjoyable! I look forward to hearing from prospective students and to learning how I may be able to help them achieve their learning goals.

Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I began studying the Hebrew Bible in my M.Div. before receiving further training in an MTS and now my current PhD program. The Hebrew Bible is my specialty, and I know not only Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic but have experience in 6 other languages related to my study (Akkadian, Ugaritic, Syriac, Sumerian, Luwian, and Hittite). Additionally, I have taught New Testament courses at the graduate level and know both Attic and Koine Greek.
College Counseling

College Counseling

For 3 years, I worked as a Writing Tutor and helped college students in a variety of fields apply to their graduate programs of choice. In the past 7+ years, I have successfully applied to multiple graduate programs and over $7,000 in grants. I look forward to helping any students who desire advice in how to navigate college or graduate school, whether in study habits, application processes, career planning.
GRE

GRE

I performed excellently on the GRE (170 verbal, 164 quant, 5.0 writing), and these results helped me gain acceptance to my first choice masters program and two of my top choice PhD programs.
Hebrew

Hebrew

I have been reading Biblical Hebrew since 2016 and have taken over 36 credit hours of Biblical Hebrew at the graduate level. My working vocabulary is around 2000 words, and my work requires attention not only to basic meanings but also to nuance and specialized usages.
Religion

Religion

I have been specializing in religious studies since college and have completed an M.Div. and MTS prior to my current doctoral program. My specializations are in Christian and Jewish traditions, but I also study the religions of the ancient Near East professionally.

Relaxed Vibes, Real Results

Andrew is wicked smart and really knows his stuff—especially when it comes to Hebrew. He’s patient, has a great sense of humor, and creates a relaxed, welcoming space where I feel like I can totally be myself. He lets me learn at my own pace, helps me set reachable goals, and answers every question I throw his way with clarity and kindness. He’s not on a strict time crunch either—he’s willing to go a few minutes over to make sure things are clear and that I leave feeling confident. If you’re looking for someone who’s both brilliant and down-to-earth, Andrew’s your guy. Give him a try—11/10 stars!

Top Notch Tutoring

I methodically searched for a Biblical Hebrew tutor and couldn't be happier I found Andrew. He is very accessible and easy to work with. His knowledge is at the highest level, which is reflected in his accomplishments. However, he can explain the material at a beginner’s level and ensure you learn it. I have done two lessons with Andrew and plan to continue throughout the summer. Honestly, I can't recommend Andrew enough as a tutor.
