I have a Ph.D. and M.S. in Physics from the University of Chicago, an Ed.M. in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard University, and an S.M. and A.B. in Physics and Astronomy from Dartmouth College.

I am completely devoted to excellence teaching and learning. I have been a university professor for the last twelve years, teaching physics and astronomy courses at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, including traditional introductory sequences, intermediate classical mechanics, electrodynamics, statistical mechanics, and astrophysics, and advanced seminars in particle physics and cosmology. Over the years, I have also taught students outside the university setting, including middle and high school students in underresourced schools, elementary and middle school teachers, US veterans, adult learners, and incarcerated folks at correctional facilities.

My teaching is informed by a holistic understanding of teaching and learning that includes models of cognitive and socioemotional development of adolescents and young adults; cognitive science research on constructivism, conceptual change, and metacognition; and physics education research on best practices to support the development of expert-like conceptual and procedural knowledge. I am also motivated by a strong belief in the inherent value of diversity and the uniqueness of each individual, and I strive to create a learning environment that is welcoming and inclusive to all educational backgrounds, cognitive styles and abilities, cultural views, personal experiences, and motivations. I also draw from my training in meditation, yoga, and social work to support the overall wellbeing of my students.

I look forward to helping you grow as a scientific thinker and develop the conceptual knowledge, quantitative skills, and mindset to succeed in physics!

WONDERFUL!

I’m currently taking my first upper level physics course. The tutors at my university were unable to help me with my problems and my schedule conflicted with the TA’s study hours. I found Zosia on here and I’m lucky I did! Zosia has been super patient with me and breaks down the problems in a digestible way. She really knows her stuff! Honestly, I really wish she was my professor. I’d 100% recommend her as a tutor!

Very helpful and knowlegeable

Zosia helped problem solve questions and cases. Experienced and highly trained tutor/instructor. Very helpful with Physics II and preparation for unit exam and ultimately the final. Thank you!!!

Best Physics Teacher

Zosia is the best physics teacher I've ever had. She taught me the entire AP Physics C Mechanics curriculum in four months. I looked forward to every meeting with her. She is organized and explains concepts very clearly. Her lessons have the perfect mixture of lecture and practice problems. I encourage anyone looking for help with Physics to work with her.

Excellent tutor!

Zosia is fun, brilliant, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and one of the best tutors I've had in any subject and I've had several. We worked on classical mechanics concepts as a last minute review before a test. We didn't have much time, but she's great at refocusing back to target very quickly, which I need to prevent me from running too far down rabbit holes which might be interesting, but not always productive (but sometimes they are, and she's good at recognizing the difference pretty quickly). She's well worth her rate, and she helped me to understand the differential calculus and which equations were needed and how to determine that for myself in the future. She's great at what she does.

Passionate and Engaging Lessons!

Zosia has been so much fun to work with- she is prepared, thorough, enthusiastic and very open to questions. I feel like I have learned a huge amount in only 2 lessons and I am excited to see what the future holds. I would highly recommend her for physics, astronomy and cosmology lessons!

Subject matter expert

Really helped me understand the project and helped guide me through some of the technical procedures I was unfamiliar with. Patient and understanding and was eager to set a follow up session to track progress.
