Hi I am Sam! I am a graduated engineering student from the University of Pennsylvania. I tutor physics and math (calculus, algebra, statistics) and have 5 years of tutoring experience. I have taken many math courses and done well in them since high school and college, including Calculus (A-Level, AP, I-V), Statistics, Mechanics, Statics, and Electricity & Magnetism. I was a tutor on GoPeer Services (of all the subjects) for 4 years and I was a hired tutor (& grader) in math and science at my University for two years and a teaching assistant for a year.
I mostly tutor College level, AP, & Honors Level Calculus, Physics, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and Algebra 2. Usually, I like to review materials before going over questions, as I prioritize students for having a concrete understanding of the concepts before diving into practice problems. I do not encourage brute-force memorization since understanding and practice are the keys to doing well in most STEM classes. I also encourage students to first attempt problems on their own so they would be able to think critically, learn, and improve.
However, I believe each person has their own learning style, so I have no rigid structure. I love to try things and see if they work or not, and together we can figure out the student's best learning strategies!
Don't hesitate to ask me if I'm free at a particular time if you wish to have a session held. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions. Looking forward to meeting you!
