I am passionate about making sociology and statistics accessible and easy to understand for students. Statistics, especially, can be hard, but I promise that it is something we can overcome together and that you might find you enjoy when you have the right teacher. I am a current graduate student receiving my PhD in sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have already received my Master's in Sociology from UIC as well. Besides this, I will be getting a certificate in statistics at the end of this current semester. Because of this certificate, I also have fluency in three different statistical softwares: Stata, SPSS, and SAS.
I have been a teaching assistant for 3 years teaching my own discussion sections and creating lesson plans for the sociology of race/ethnicity, intro to sociology, and introductory sociological statistics. Prior to graduate school, I was also a social worker and received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology & Education. Most of my teaching experience has been with college students whereas my social work experience has been primarily with youth K-12. I have excellent teaching reviews from my students that I am very good at making hard concepts understandable and that I am enthusiastic and engaging. I am happy to show these upon request. Otherwise, I'm sure we will have a fun time together!
