Hello! My name is Noah S. and I’m a dedicated high school math teacher for Chicago Public Schools. I’m 26 years old and graduated from the University of Michigan in 2021 with a BAEd (Bachelor of Arts in Education), majoring in Secondary Mathematics and I’ve been teaching ever since! I’m currently in my fifth year of full-time teaching and I’m certified to teach Middle and High School math. I mainly teach high school sophomores and juniors Algebra 2, but I also teach a class of seniors and have taught Geometry as well over the past few years. Coming from a family of educators, I’m very passionate about teaching and helping others. Not only am I an experienced educator, but I also have a long history of tutoring math dating back to my time in college. I’ve tutored many over the course of eight years, ranging in age from 4th grade to 12th grade. I also provide after-school tutoring for my students at the school I teach at, helping them with any math content or SAT/ACT prep that they have.
Back when I was in high school, I really struggled with math. I had trouble buying into the usefulness of math and found that it gave me anxiety, as it does with many students. When I got to college, I learned to love math. It became a passion of mine, and now I see math intertwined in everything we do. I make it a goal to connect math to the real world as much as possible and promote fun, interactive activities and relationship building to give students a different experience than I had growing up. To go along with activities, I provide concrete overviews of the content we’re working on to provide students with a clear way to learn, take notes, and have outlined example problems.
I really enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences with others. It helps me feel fulfilled and gives me a purpose. Please reach out if you’re interested in a session! Also, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns and I’d be happy to collaborate on a solution with you!
