Bio

Hello! I'm a graduate student getting my Masters in Public Affairs with a specialization in public policy. Back when I went to college at the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!), I knew I wanted to focus on theories of gendered and sexual violence, so I triple-majored in Gender Studies, Peace Studies, and Philosophy. After college, I spent a short six months in Guatemala, working at an orphanage and running their girls' empowerment program.

I'm passionate about writing, from the research papers I've written in academia to the young adult novel I wrote on a dare. I've always edited my friends' papers, starting from that first research project in elementary until more recently when I edited my friend's application to medical school and worked with a Wyzant student on his application materials to help him successfully get into NYU. I’ve been published in academic journals, received writing awards, and - in high school - scored a 36 in ACT English and a 790 in SAT Writing. I know not only how to make sure the grammar and sentence structure is correct, but how to ensure that your writing sounds like YOU! I love seeing someone's personality shine through their words and knowing that I helped them get there.

I can help you with more than just writing, though; I've tutored all sorts of students in all sorts of areas. Some of my past formal teaching experiences include: TA-ing for a college Introductory Logic course for 2 years; tutoring high school freshmen in Physics for a year; and teaching students ages 2-22 piano, tin whistle, and accordion for over 15 years. I love seeing students progress and nurturing the potential for growth that every student has.

I'm quite good at keeping stress levels low in a tutoring session. We can work through your problems together, ensuring understanding while not getting too bogged down in the confusion of it all. I’ll be there to walk you through it. I know it might be a cliche, but let's make learning fun!

College Counseling

College Counseling

I've helped many people hone their college (and law school and medical school) essays to make them stand out and shine amongst every other application submitted. I know how to translate your unique standpoint and personality into words, to make sure that you come across in a way that shows that you're special and worth admitting. I can help you come up with creative ideas, formats, and subjects to give you the best chance of getting into the school of your dreams!
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I placed in state-wide math competitions in high school, and I tutored for freshmen math courses in college.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I’ve had academic essays I’ve written published in journals. I’ve worked with students confused and frustrated on how to start their papers, and I’ve guided them through the whole essay writing process. I make things easy, giving step-by-step instructions to help students organize their thoughts into clear and concise writing.
General Music

General Music

I trained in classical piano (including theory) for 13 years. I have played traditional Irish music on the piano accordion and the tin whistle since the age of 5, winning competitions on an international level. I have taught myself the basics of several other instruments as well, but my current focus is on folk guitar.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

I'm currently getting my Masters in Public Affairs with a specialization in public policy at the University of Missouri, where I have a 4.0 GPA. I took mainly political science courses in my undergraduate career at the University of Notre Dame, as they were often cross listed with Peace Studies and Gender Studies, two of my majors.
Law

Law

I attended law school for two semesters before having to drop out for medical reasons. I'm capable of editing briefs or papers and even checking for correct blue-booking, but I am not able to provide tutoring for actual legal subject matter. I do, however, have resources (former classmates and a judge for a dad) to consult with if I find something that I'm unsure of in papers.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I've helped many people with application essays for college, grad school (including law school and med school), and everything in between — and had those students get into their dream schools, prestigious universities like Yale, NYU, Northwestern, and Notre Dame. I’ve helped students gain acceptances to residency programs, clubs, and other selective programs. I help throughout the whole process, from brainstorming for a creative and unique idea to those final proofreading edits.
Philosophy

Philosophy

I majored in Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame and graduated with honors. I’m able to simply complicated philosophical topics down to understandable material. I can teach you how to write effective and argumentative philosophy papers, ones with clear arguments and strong logic - no matter the topic.
Piano

Piano

I began classical piano and music theory lessons at the age of 5 and continued them until 18. I began teaching piano in high school, teaching students aged 3-14, and have continued to do so sporadically since. I am trained in traditional Irish music as well, in which I have competed and won on an international level.
Political Science

Political Science

I'm currently getting my Masters in Public Affairs with a specialization in public policy at the University of Missouri, where I have a 4.0 GPA. I took mainly political science courses in my undergraduate career at the University of Notre Dame, as they were often cross listed with Peace Studies and Gender Studies, two of my majors.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I've always loved grammar and had a sharp eye for catching typos. This has translated to me being the final editor for all my friends and family - in school papers, applications, personal statements, resumes, and everything in between. I've worked on the work of students of all levels, including undergraduate theses and applications to medical residency programs, in addition to my own work as a law student.
Sociology

Sociology

I graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame after majoring in Gender Studies and Peace Studies, both fields in Sociology. I completed coursework that was cross-listed with Sociology for both of those majors, covering a full range of sociological subjects and disciplines. I edited papers for friends majoring in Sociology, helping them receive the best grades possible.
Spanish

Spanish

I took Spanish all throughout high school and even a couple courses in college. However, my true Spanish experience comes from the 7 months I spent in Guatemala. I'm capable of tutoring any basic level, but would be hesitant to work with more advanced students, since my Spanish tends to be more colloquial than academic.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

I wrote a thesis as an undergraduate for my major in gender studies. I know how to structure a paper and organize research to properly demonstrate the writer’s expertise and to communicate their message effectively. As a current graduate student in public policy, I have plenty of recent experience writing academic papers as well, so I’m up-to-date on expectations and standards.
Writing

Writing

I've loved writing my entire life, in all its forms. I'm a quick worker and can use your time efficiently; I've whipped together a ten page academic paper from start to finish in less than two hours, and - on one occasion - wrote an entire young adult novel in the span of five weeks. I know the patterns, the way writing works best, and I can share it with you. I can help you throughout the entire writing process, from brainstorming ideas to creating a structure that makes sense to the final line edits. Whatever the subject matter or format, we can work together to make the best final product possible!

Knowledgeable and patient

Molly’s been incredibly helpful to my high school aged son. She is passionate about teaching. Molly is very knowledgeable in various subjects including history and English. She even reviewed my son’s paper after the tutoring session was over to make sure it all looked good. She’s easy to reach and flexible with scheduling. We definitely recommend her.

Patient, knowledgeable, and professional

Molly has excellent insight into the interpretation of material. Her patience and knowledge of the subject matter helped break down the misunderstanding of the content related to the assignment. Questions were thoroughly explained, along with applications that provided a detailed road map to complete my work. I would recommend her to anyone, especially myself, who struggles with comprehension.
