I have been an educator for 29 years specializing in middle school Math and Pre-algebra. As an educator, I have served in various professional roles from school-level administrator to district-level administrator to an adjunct math instructor at a local university. I currently teach 5th and 6th Math and Science along with an online Algebra class of middle students from four different schools in Chicago. My work is so rewarding because l recognize and respect the uniqueness of each student in an effect to help them reach their potential. As a tutor, my primary mission is to foster a love of learning in each student.

I believe my greatest strength as an educator is to be able to grow students by at least one grade level in less than half the time. My teaching style greatly depends on the student. However, I typically implement a mixture of teaching styles to get the best results. I provide activities that allow students to construct their knowledge coupled with direct instruction to provide students with the best problem-solving practices.

Although I am new to the Wyzant app, but I have been tutoring since I started teaching 28 years ago. I started offering test prep services about five years ago, and I have been tutoring consistently ever since. My test prep services have earned students seats at the best selective enrollment high schools in Chicago. I am a teacher-author and my instructional materials are well-sought-after by teachers across the nation.

Knowledgeable Tutor For Math and Reading

Crystal is a very kind, patient, and knowledgeable tutor. She has been helping our son Riley (fifth grade) with his math and reading for the past few months. Riley was originally having challenges with math word problems and reading comprehension. Crystal has been able to help Riley slow down and identify key words in solving word problems. Riley is more confident, engaged, and has been improving on both his math and reading work at school. We’re happy to have found Crystal and would recommend her to other families.
