Hi all! I’m an exceptionally bright intellectual with broad interests at the intersections of the humanities and social sciences. My specializations are in cultural anthropology and archaeology, but I have extensive experience in literature, history, geography, religion, and the history of philosophy. What ties all these varied interests together is my strong commitment to critical writing, discourse, and thought. I am best suited for tutoring undergraduates and high schoolers, especially high achieving high schoolers starting to think about college. I am well equipped to give sound advice about applying to highly selective institutions. My main teaching experience has been as a teaching assistant at UChicago for five undergraduate courses, including the college core sequence, Self, Culture, and Society; Colonizations; and Archaeological Field Methods. I most enjoy helping students begin to think about a topic in a new way through critical dialogue and discussion. I don’t tell students what to think or to write, but I guide them in arriving at a new approach or vantage point in relation to a particular problem or issue of concern.
I am a PhD student in anthropology in the subfield of archaeology at the top ranked program of its kind in the world. I am on track to be a tenure track professor at a top university once I finish my program in a few years. I have taken over 40 college and graduate level courses in anthropology. My undergraduate GPA at Vanderbilt was 3.88 (Magna Cum Laude), and my current grad school GPA is 3.94 after three years of coursework. Besides academic coursework, I also conduct my own archaeological fieldwork, and I have worked on excavations in Peru, Mexico, Arizona, Michigan, and Alabama. So my competency in anthropology/archaeology stretches across academic discourse and practical applications in the field.
My main strength across all my academic interests is critical writing and much of my competency comes from the fact that I read a lot! Besides being very engaged with reading cont
