I am a tutor who has the knowledge and expertise to deliver high quality instruction through digital methods for students who require special education services. My approach to instruction is individualize by developing specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of all learners. I can tutor a wide range of subjects from traditional academics to functional life skills. Due to my experience as a classroom teacher and administrator, I can collaborate effectively with your students teachers to align my instruction with classroom curriculums.

My Professional Experience:
I am currently a Special Education Administrator in Illinois. I oversee 10 teachers, 14 paraprofessionals, and ~110 students with an IEP. My duties range from providing direct support and professional development to classroom teachers, leading IEP Meetings, compliance monitoring in district and legal responsibilities and more. Ultimately, my job is to ensure students receive the supports they need to be successful. Prior to this, I worked as a high school Special Education Teacher in the transition program. The classroom was structured on the foundation of the following skills: independence, advocate, prepare for transition, and growth mindset. In the classroom, I taught traditional academics and functional life skills to a diverse range of abilities. Throughout college, I worked as Professional Support Worker (PSW) for numerous families with children/ young adults with disabilities. As a PSW, I supported families within their homes and community to increase the independence of their child/ young adult.

My Education:
- Undergraduate is from Illinois State University for Learning Behavioral Specialist 1. I studied abroad at the University of Leicester in England and the University of Taipei in Taiwan.
-Masters is from University of Illinois at Springfield for Educational Leadership with a Principalship.
-Post-Masters is from Aurora University for the Director of Special Education.

I worked at a high school as a special education teacher for 3 years supporting students with disabilities, including those with ADHD. I taught both functional skills and traditional academics from freshman all the way up to age 22. I also worked as a Homebound Instructor supporting students virtually as a tutor for their coursework. I am also currently working as a Special Education Administrator ensuring that all students with ADHD in our building receive the appropriate level of support in their classrooms.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

While pursuing an undergraduate degree in Special Education at Illinois State University, I worked directly within the homes of families to support individuals with Autism. When I graduated, I worked at a high school as a special education teacher for 3 years supporting students with disabilities, including those with Autism. My program focused on preparing young adults and their families for the transition out of high school. In the classroom, I taught both functional skills (independent living, career skills) and traditional academics from freshman all the way up to age 22. Currently, I am working as a Special Education Administrator ensuring that all students with Autism in our building receive the appropriate level of support in their classrooms.
Special Needs

Special Needs

My life passion has always been centered around working alongside individuals with disabilities to achieve their fullest potential. My interest in the field of Special Education developed in high school through Best Buddies - an international program originally focused on developing positive relationships between those with and without disabilities. My dedication to the world of Special Education is evident through my own education and work as I have an Undergraduate Degree in Special Education, a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, the Director of Special Education Endorsement, and will soon begin the Superintendent's Endorsement. Not only have I had the opportunity to research various topics in Special Education and Educational Leadership, I have had first hand experience working in both fields. I am excited to take these skills and to share them across the internet here on Wyzant!
