I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Statistics, and I also earned my Master’s degree in Statistics from UIUC. My academic training involved rigorous coursework in mathematics, probability, linear algebra, algorithms, and data analysis, all of which form the foundation for tutoring subjects like Algebra I, Algebra II, and SAT Math. This strong quantitative background allows me to explain math concepts clearly, connect ideas across topics, and help students build logical problem-solving skills rather than relying on memorization.
I have experience tutoring middle school and high school students, primarily in SAT Math, Algebra I, and Algebra II, working one-on-one to strengthen fundamentals, improve accuracy, and build confidence. I tailor my teaching approach to each student’s level by first identifying gaps in understanding, then breaking concepts down step by step using clear explanations and guided practice. I emphasize understanding why methods work, which is especially important for standardized tests like the SAT, where students must apply concepts flexibly under time pressure. My sessions are structured but adaptive, allowing students to ask questions freely and practice independently with support.
In addition to private tutoring, I currently serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UIUC, where I hold office hours and discussion sections for large groups of students and provide individualized academic support. This experience has strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly, adjust explanations based on student feedback, and work with learners of varying skill levels in both one-on-one and group settings. I bring the same patience, structure, and clarity from my classroom teaching into my tutoring sessions to help students succeed academically and gain confidence in math.
