Hi, I'm Hayden. I'm a student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with over six years of tutoring experience and a genuine passion for helping students grow. I'm pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering with a concentration in Plasma and Fusion Sciences, along with a second major in Economics. Alongside my academic work, I am currently working as a wealth management intern, where I apply quantitative reasoning, data analysis, and financial concepts in real-world settings.
I specialize in mathematics, English, reading, and science. Math, in particular, became a passion of mine after it transformed from a personal challenge into one of my greatest strengths — thanks to a mentor who helped me recognize my potential. That experience continues to shape how I teach: I focus not just on getting the right answer, but on helping students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of the material. I strive to make complex ideas approachable by connecting them to each student's interests — whether that's sports, gaming, or real-world applications like finance and engineering.
My tutoring philosophy is rooted in adaptability, encouragement, and curiosity. I believe students learn best when they feel understood, supported, and intellectually engaged.
Beyond tutoring, I've worked as a research assistant in a university plasma physics lab and helped direct a longstanding service initiative delivering meals to people experiencing homelessness in Chicago. As a former captain of my high school's track and cross-country teams, I understand the time demands that come with competitive athletics — and I build my tutoring plans around each student's schedule, not the other way around.
I offer a free initial consultation to assess each student's goals, strengths, and learning style, and I ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations. If you're looking for a tutor who is patient, articulate, and genuinely invested in your success, I'd love to connect — feel free to reach out!
