Hi! I'm Sunny, and I am a second-year J.D. candidate at New York University School of Law. I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with dual degrees in Finance, with highest honors, and Psychology, with magna cum laude distinction. My academic background has developed my skills in writing, research, critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and communication, all of which I bring to my teaching and tutoring.
My teaching experience includes working as a tutor through Varsity Tutors, providing independent one-on-one tutoring, and working in college admissions. Through Dewey Smart, as well as through independent contracting, I have worked with students on the college admissions process, primarily helping with application and admissions essay writing. I have also provided individualized academic support to students with different learning styles, needs, and goals. My approach is highly personalized: I focus on identifying where a student is struggling, explaining concepts in a way that makes sense to them, and helping them develop strategies they can eventually use independently.
I particularly value one-on-one instruction because it allows me to adapt my approach to each student. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through mistakes. Whether I am helping a student understand academic material, improve their writing, or strengthen a college application essay, I focus on building both the student's skills and confidence.
